Kim Hea-Ryun
Abstract
This paper is about the resilience of the COAs. So far the discussion about the COAs has been focused on the disease model. Many researches recently show that there are hardly any difference between the COAs brought up by alcoholic family and the children brought up by normal family. The research done by Harter(1990) shows that COAs have lower alcohol abuse, higher social skills and more successful careers than the children from an alcoholic family. The concept of resilience emphasizes of the possibilities of COAs being adaptive. This paper tries to introduce the concept of the resilience, the characteristics of the resilient COAs and the measurement issues of the resilience.
